As you might have noticed, I've deleted my macro-related photomanips from my DA account (except for a few I'm leaving up just for old times' sake).

The reason? There are several. One is that it brings forth the emotions of sadness and heartbreak, of fantasies and dreams that can never be fulfilled, much like the hopes and dreams of my day-to-day life. To me, wishing to be a giant, or being shrunk is too much like wishing to win the lottery - a nice fantasy to be sure, but one that is sure to disappoint in the long run.

What about macro for the sake of art and enjoyment by the community of fellow macros? Well, that would be nice, if there was a macro community to speak of. If you were to spend some time over on Coiled Fist (the central "hub" of the macro community), you'll see that it's just a bunch of unhappy people picking fights with each other, along with a clique that leads to rampant favoritism of a chosen few. Needless to say, newbs are not welcomed there. "Just another g-dammed little" they'll whisper among themselves whenever a new peep comes on board and wishes to interact with the old-timers. There's even this character (a site mod, no less) over there that writes absolutely outlandish "autobiographical" tales that are clearly not true, and yet his "followers" believe every word he writes. Ugh. Too much like a cult to me.

Look elsewhere on the web for macro, you'll not find much. A few manips here and there, a Youtube "preview" or two for paid content. That's it. Doesn't sound like a growing, exciting community that I want to be a part of.

So I've come to the conclusion that macro is a fantasy best enjoyed alone, or perhaps with a few close trusted friends. What else can be said of an impossible fantasy anyhow? That's right, not a heck of a whole lot.

So, I hereby declare the "End of Macro", at least for me anyhow. And it'll not be missed much, either. What can be said of fantasies that have zero chance of being realized? Not a heck of a whole lot.
